Aiden Fruit (Prekese)
Aidan Fruit, also known as Prekese, Aridan, or Tetrapleura tetraptera, is an aromatic fruit native to West and Central Africa. It is easily recognized by its distinctive four-sided, winged pod and naturally sweet, fragrant aroma. Prekese has been traditionally valued in African cuisine and herbal practices for generations and is commonly used as a spice, tea ingredient, and natural flavoring. The dried fruit has a rich, sweet and slightly spicy aroma that makes it particularly popular for preparing traditional soups, herbal drinks and teas. Beyond its culinary uses, Aidan fruit contains naturally occurring phytochemicals including phenols, flavonoids, saponins, tannins and alkaloids, as well as various nutrients and minerals.
